Get started with a scenic drive though the Caves Branch Valley surrounded by the Maya Mountains on all sides. After a detailed briefing we put into the inland Blue Hole cave system and begin our magical underground journey which will take us flowing into the Caves Branch River cave system. Actun Tunichil Muknal (Cave of the Stone Sepulchre) ranks #1 in the Top 10 Sacred Caves by National Geographic. Originally discovered in 1989 ATM gained archaeological importance as one of the top sacrificial caves in Belize and now in the world.

There is something very unique about caving in Belize and that is the fact that 99% of all caves found here have evidence that the truly magnificent Maya culture performed sacred rituals inside these caves, possibly before the 2nd century BC to around 1100 AD. Every expedition in search for new caves is filled with excitement as there are always new findings. A very high percentage of the Maya Mountains is still unexplored, and with the huge amount of caves in them, every hole, crack or crevasse can lead into something big, or to ancient Mayan artifacts that have never been seen by any humans since those were left there at the time of the collapse of Maya Civilization.

Inner tubes to float on, may or may not be part of the expedition as this will depend on the time of the year and the selected location. An expert jungle guide and a back-up guide will take you through these two marvellous days.
